إن ثورة 25 يناير 2011 ثورة اجتماعية كاملة بمعنى الكلمة إذ شكلت حدثا فاصلا بين عهدين ونقلة كبيرة بين نظامين. وكانت هناك عوامل بمثابة الوقود الذي أشعل هذه الثورة يمكن إيجازها في : الفساد السياسي وغياب شبه كامل للحريات العامة و الشخصية وصنع ديمقراطية ديكورية فقط لم يتفاعل معها الشعب المصري ، و غيبة العدالة الاجتماعية وبروز الفوارق الشاسعة بين الطبقات حتى صارت تقريبا طبقتين فقط وتخلى النظام السابق نهائيا عن مسئولياته السياسية و الاجتماعية تجاه المواطنين ،وانتشار الرشوة و المحسوبية حتى أصبحت لغة و ثقافة متعارف عليها يوميا فى حياة المصريين ، والقمع الأمني الذي استخدمه النظام في تمرير مشاريعه المشبوهة وإسكات الأفواه المعارضة له ، والتضليل الإعلامي وتفريغ الحقائق من مضمونها. فقرر الشباب الدعوة إلى التجمع و الخروج للتعبير عن أمانيهم في التغيير و الحرية و العدالة الاجتماعية بشكل سلمي متحضر . وكان النداء إلى الاشتراك في مظاهرة احتجاجية يوم 25 يناير 2011 بميدان التحرير والكثير من الميادين الهامة في كل أنحاء مصر على شبكة المعلومات الدولية معبراً عن رغبة شعبية جارفة للتغيير. وكان لافتا أنها تضم جميع الطبقات و الطوائف و الثقافات في كل ربوع البلاد . اتسمت هذه المظاهرات بالسلمية و الإصرار على إحداث التغيير ،وتواصلت عبر الأيام من 25 يناير 2011 إلى أن حققت هدفها يوم 11/2/2011 بتخلي رئيس النظام عن الحكم. لم يكن الطريق إلى تحقيق الهدف سهلا ميسوراً ، و لكنه كان مفروشاً بالدماء و الجروح .
The revolution of January 25, 2011 was a social revolution, in the full sense of the word as it formed a watershed event between two eras and a major shift between two regimes. The factors which were the fuel that ignited this revolution can be summarized in: political corruption, the semi-complete absence of public and personal freedoms. So-called democracy, which did not interact with the Egyptian people, was formed. There was an absence of social justice. Vast gabs between the classes of people appeared until it became almost two classes only. The former regime totally ignored its political and social responsibilities towards the citizens. Bribery and favoritism spread till they became the everyday language and culture in the life of the Egyptians. Security suppression was used by the regime to pass its suspicious projects. Opposition voices to that regime were muted. Media delusion and emptying facts of their content were widely used.
The young people decided to call for gathering and getting out expressing their aspirations for change, freedom and social justice in a peaceful and civilized way. The call to participate in the protesting demonstration on January 25, 2011 in Tahrir Square and other important squares in Egypt, was on the internet. They expressed a sweeping popular desire for change. It was notable that those demonstrations included all classes, sects and cultures throughout the country. The demonstrations were marked as peaceful and insisting on change. They continued until it has achieved its main goal on the 11th of February 2011 with the step down of the head of the regime from power. The road to achieve the goal was not easy, but it was covered with blood and wounds.
